Informacion Sobre la Vacuna COVID-19 en Español

Sioux County is following the Iowa Department of Public Health orders for COVID-19 vaccine administration.

In Sioux County, the Local Public Health Agency, Community Health Partners, is working collaboratively with the four Area Health Systems and Promise Community Health Center to distribute and administer COVID-19 vaccine. Community Health Partners will not be giving vaccinations.

Vaccine is currently not available to the general public. As more vaccine becomes available, additional groups will be eligible to receive the vaccine.

Who can get vaccinated?
Iowa is currently in Phase 1A of vaccine distribution. Phase 1A is limited to paid and unpaid health care personnel and residents of long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities, and residential care facilities.

When will more people be able to get vaccinated?
Phase 1B will begin on February 1. However, vaccine remains in short supply.  This means that not everyone in Phase 1B will be able to get the vaccine right away.

When and where can I get the COVID-19 vaccine?
While the vaccine supply remains scarce, individuals who are at highest risk for negative outcomes of COVID-19 will be the highest priority to get vaccinated first. Since age is one of the greatest risk factors for a negative outcome, Sioux County will prioritize vaccinating those individuals 65 and older before moving on to others in Phase 1B.

Sioux County Health System Websites:

If you live in Sioux County, are over age 65, but your physician’s office is not in Sioux County, you will be able to go to one of the local health systems and get your shot. Please sign up with one of the local health systems using the instructions listed on their website.

At this time, the demand for vaccine far outweighs the supply. There are approximately 5,700 people in Sioux County age 65 and older. We anticipate it will be several weeks, possibly months, before vaccine is available for everyone age 65 and older who wants it.

Please be patient and be assured Sioux County Health Systems and other community partners, including pharmacies are ready, willing, and able to give vaccine as it comes in. The delay is due to low supply of vaccine to give, not due to lack of desire or ability to give it.
